The aim of the GP Obstetric Shared Care (SA) Program (GP OSC SA) is to increase choices and options for pregnancy care for women and to provide continuity of care. OSC accredited GPs work collaboratively with a Specialist Obstetrician or a GP Obstetrician to facilitate shared antenatal and postnatal care for women who wish to deliver in a public hospital. All GPs who practice Obstetric Shared Care in SA are required to be accredited with the GP OSC SA program. Accreditation is dependent on satisfactory antenatal care experience and completion of an OSC Accreditation program. (Click here for the OSC Accreditation application form). From March 22nd – 24th, GP partners Adelaide promoted the GP Obstetric Shared Care Program at the Pregnancy, Babies and Children’s Expo at the Wayville Showgrounds.
Thousands of people attended the 3 day event which was an ideal opportunity to increase awareness of the Program.
Women from across the state visited the stand to make enquiries about the program. Some were looking for a model of care that differed from the ones they had used previously while others were looking at all the options of care that are available.
Some of those enquiring felt that GP Obstetric Shared Care would provide them with a model that gave them continuity of care at a more affordable price than private obstetric models.
Over two hundred contacts were made with prospective consumers so this was a very successful marketing initiative for the GP Obstetric Shared Care Program.
